Recently, Dulux revealed their colour of the year: Spiced Honey. As someone who is drawn to dark, earthy tones, I'd have to say I am on board with it. What about you?
Spiced Honey is warm and soothing, and, you might be surprised to know, can easily be matched with pastel colours. This is important, as pastel colours are often used to soften or brighten a space.
Dulux has shared with us three ways to use Spiced Honey at home. I have also picked out five items that will pair well with this gorgeous hue. Read on to see what they are!
Spiced Honey in a calm and resful space...
Dulux says combining Spiced Honey's earthy notes with muted pastels, warm woods and tactile textiles can create a space that is good for rest and reflection. In this photo, you will see how cooler muted hues complement the warmer tones of Spiced Honey.
Spiced Honey as a match for rich, autumn shades...
You do not have to use Spiced Honey in every room, but you definitely need to pick complementary colours for adjacent spaces. If you have picked Spiced Honey for the living room, try warmer tones like burgundy or terracotta orange in the kitchen or balcony. Woven baskets and pottery help create a rustic look.
Spiced Honey with vibrant pastels...
We have seen how Spiced Honey brings out the best of muted pastel, but how about vibrant pastels such as light blue and vibrant mustard? According to Dulux, colour used in bold abstract blocks can create a fresh and contemporary mood. This playful and fun bedroom, in particular, uses light pastels punctuated by zesty citrus hues. Really digging the red strip! Lush indoor plants and edgy furniture makes the space look modern, too.
Want to achieve the same look? I think these furniture pieces below will go well with Spiced Honey.
1) Recreate the look in the first photo with this distressed leather sofa, from Castlery.
2) This vibrant art piece from Lumas will pop against a Spiced Honey wall.
3) This Leaf Green throw, to drape over your light-coloured sofa, from Hipvan.
4) This blush bedding set from Sojao will look good with a Spiced Honey wall
5) Need something in white to balance it out? Try the Kartell Componibili from Finnish Design Shop.
